About

Welcome to Coastal Island Farm! We are located in the beautiful Comox Valley and focus on growing specialty cut flowers. Our passion for flowers runs deep, and we've been fortunate to own and operate a small cut flower farm in Central Alberta, before relocating to beautiful BC.

Coastal Island Farm is home to our friendly hens, wooly sheep, guard dog Poppy and horse Razzle. The orchard is situated on the edge of our land, amidst the mixed landscape of forest, pasture and of course the beloved market garden. The farm offers our family of six space to spread out and enjoy all that nature has to offer. We enjoy spending time restoring and reimagining this special property.

While we specialize in growing cut flowers for wedding design and mixed market bouquets available from May-October, we also offer specialty coffee roasted weekly at the farm, farm fresh eggs as well as seasonal produce and bedding plants available from our farm store, with pick up in Merville BC.

Meet Your Farmer Florist

Since I was a young girl I have held a fascination for all things flowers. I spent hours upon hours playing Secret Garden, and couldn’t deny the wonder of the life and vibrancy that emerges from a single seed. I used to stay  home “sick” from school to putter the day away in the garden, growing melons, veggies, and flowers- pretty much anything I was able to get my hands on. I have a deep rooted love for the garden. It is there that I wander, dream and find solace.

At the age of 20 there were two things I knew I wanted for my wedding day- that I would be barefoot and that I would arrange my own flowers. I will never forget putting together each and every arrangement and bouquet with my mom and sisters- or that my simple bouquet froze in the little refrigerator by morning. No matter, my oldest sister saved the day and put something equally as lovely together.
Over the last 15 years I have found every excuse to expand our garden and landscape. My husband, who owned a landscaping business for many years, lovingly indulged me and we have had fun expanding the garden, planting many varieties of shrubs and perennials, and of course all the flowers. Year by year the veggie patch has shrunk, and the flower patch has grown.  I have been asked how many flowers a garden needs…. and my answer is, there are never too many!

After fostering a secret dream of becoming a flower farmer when I "grew up", my dream became a reality after taking the Floret Course. In 2018 I stepped out with a friend and launched Meadow Farm Florals located in Central Alberta. We served the community with beautiful market bouquets and I led our design team for wedding and event work. As difficult as it was to say goodbye to our community, I am so looking forward to serving Vancouver Island and exploring a much longer growing season.

Each year it is my joy to grow flowers, arrange them with love and attention, and share them with you.  I can’t wait to watch my four kiddos wander through the fields of blooms, and get their hands dirty. From planting to picking, seed to centrepiece- I love it all…
